Invisalign clear aligners - characteristics

Invisalign clear aligners is an alternative to fixed braces. Thanks to Invisalign, having a dream smile is no longer a problem. What's more, it does not require almost any sacrifices in everyday life. Overhead devices (aligners) - Invisalign straightens teeth with a set of transparent, replaceable aligners that are made to order, individually tailored to the patient. Each aligner is replaced every two weeks, so that the patient's teeth gradually move to the right place - day by day and millimeter by millimeter.
Nowadays, the progress is extremely fast, especially in medicine. Over the years, the best solution in the treatment of many malocclusion have been fixed braces, consisting of metal arches and locks glued directly to the teeth, which may be associated with some inconveniences.

That was until today. What does the treatment of tomorrow look like? Almost completely invisible aligners, i.e. rails applied to the teeth, allow to function normally without any embarrassment, so that most people will not even notice that we use an orthodontic appliance. Overhead apparatuses (aligners) - Invisalign® are worn constantly, taking off only for the time of eating. This is the beauty of overlay cameras (Invisalign®) - they adapt to your life.

Invisalign clear aligners - benefits

Aesthetics, aesthetics and once again aesthetics! Overlapping devices (aligners) - Invisalign® are almost completely transparent so few will notice that you are in the process of orthodontic treatment. Moreover, they are extremely effective, the first effects are already noticeable when regularly worn on the first rails. The average accuracy of tooth movement from the overlay camera (aligners) - Invisalign® is up to 41%. This is a very good result and the system is still being improved. Aligners are also very comfortable to wear. This is because they are adapted to the owner in the smallest details. They are produced on the basis of impressions of teeth taken by a doctor. In addition, they do not contain any metal elements like locks and arches that could irritate the mouth or gums. Interestingly, it is a camera that you can take off. For eating and drinking, it also facilitates brushing and flossing, which significantly improves hygiene. In the case of overlay devices (aligners) - Invisalign®, we can familiarize ourselves with the whole treatment plan and the changes that occur with each rail and how our smile will look after treatment. Overhead cameras (aligners) - Invisalign® do not give any allergic reactions. Moreover, magnetic resonance imaging can be performed in them, which is not possible with conventional fixed braces. When choosing the method of overlay devices (aligners) - Invisalign® at the beginning of treatment, we pay for its entirety, so you will not be surprised by the additional costs. The fee includes the price of treatment planning, impressions, abroad, all aligners and all visits. In the case of the full and teen methods, this price also includes the option of changing the treatment plan during and afterwards.

Indications for the procedure

In this method of treatment, about 70% of various types of defects can be treated, such as the simplest crowding or gaps between the teeth, but also an open bite, deep cross or fore or undershot bite. However, each patient is different. The disadvantages combine and complicate. Only a qualified doctor can determine if treatment with this method suits your needs. Treatment plans performed by Invisalign® specialists also facilitate the planning of more extensive dental procedures. You can virtually remove teeth or add implants.

Contraindications for the procedure

Contraindication to treatment with apparatuses (aligners) - Invisalign® are anatomical defects, the only treatment option being surgical treatment. However, you can prepare your teeth for this procedure. Thanks to the previous ClinCheck® simulation and Invisalign® treatment, you can set the teeth correctly and after the operation at the end of the treatment are in the right positions! Additionally, the extrusion (extending from the gum) of the incisal teeth above 3.5 mm and the premolar and molars above 1 mm are not indicated for anatomical reasons. Intrusion (insertion of the tooth into the gum) is not recommended above 3 mm incisors and above the millimeter in premolars and molars. The same applies to the movement of the tooth root, whose movement above 6 mm can lead to the death of the pulp (which consists of vessels and nerves in the tooth) and root resorption. However, it all depends on the Invisalign® doctor, who determines what the contraindications in a given case are at the initial visit.

Before the surgery

Treatment with overlay devices (aligners) - Invisalign® should be started by making an appointment with an orthodontist who has a treatment certificate using this method. The plan is set individually, discussing various treatment options with the patient. The patient should be instructed about the care of oral hygiene, including proper brushing and flossing with the dental floss of the interdental space. It is necessary to remove the above and subgingival stones by scaling and smoothing the roots. It is very important to cure acute periodontal diseases before orthodontic treatment. At this stage, all teeth should be treated conservatively and endodontically. As a result, possible periapical inflammations are healed and nothing interferes with the movements of the teeth. In the case of missing teeth, it is planned to supplement them with implants or appropriate bridges, which can be included in ClinCheck® (individual plan for the treatment of Invisalign aligners)

Type of anaesthesia

For the treatment of malocclusion using the adhesive pads (aligners) - Invisalign®, anaesthesia is not needed because it is completely painless! Patients report discomfort when taking impressions and on the first day of wearing new rails when the forces acting on the teeth are greatest, but this feeling passes quickly. It is important to constantly carry the rails at a minimum of 22 hours a day to ensure proper tooth movements.

How does the procedure work?

Treatment starts with choosing your doctor who uses the Invisalign® method. The next step is to fill in a detailed questionnaire with the doctor, which determines the type of defect, restrictions in treatment and the choice of method. There are four options of treatment with overlay devices (aligners) - Invisalign®, depending on malocclusion. The simplest Invisalign® i7 covering the treatment of small crowding and cracks, more aesthetic correction through a maximum of 7 rails is also the cheapest option. A more extended treatment is the Invisalign® lite option in which we have more options to correct the smile and more rails because it is 14. The widest version that can cure most of the bite defects is Invisalign® full, where the number of rails depends on the treatment plan, and at any time you can stop treatment, download new impressions and change the plan from that point on. In this option, it is possible to correct after treatment with fixed-line aligners in the case when the patient is not satisfied with the effects obtained from the previous treatment plan. For younger patients, an overlay device (aligners) is intended - Invisalign® teen, which is a youth version of the full option with the fact that if within 5 years after curing the defect, it is returned to the price is re-treatment with aligners.

After selecting the method of treatment, the patient is taken outside - (en face with smile and without and profile) and intraoral (cheek, cheek and labial teeth). Then the most important step is the impressions of both dental arches. This stage is extremely important, because it depends on the entire treatment plan and the accuracy of the rails to be adjusted individually to the patient. That is why they are made of polyvinylsiloxal (PVS) masses, which are characterized by the accuracy of impressions to the model and an extremely small contraction that could disrupt the actual appearance of the teeth. Such impressions are sent by courier to Amsterdam in the Netherlands, where a group of outstanding technicians scans them and on their basis a virtual image of teeth is created. They outline the initial treatment plan and the number of treatment rails needed and send to the doctor. After reading the materials, the doctor checks and eventually corrects the plan. Overhead devices (aligners) - Invisalign® move the teeth, exerting a controlled pressure on them. Unlike traditional locks, each Invisalign® arch exerts controlled pressure not only in the right places, but also long enough. According to the Invisalign treatment guidelines, only some teeth are moved in each stage. In this method, the pressure is exerted on the teeth with adequate strength, which causes their displacement to the position determined by the doctor. After approval of the treatment plan, the invisalign® devices are manufactured and sent to the office where they wait for the patient. In the office, the dentist places attachments made of composite material on the teeth, which not only improve the position of the splint on the teeth, preventing it from sliding down, but also maintains the correct position of the tooth during its movement. Attachments are on the teeth for the duration of the entire treatment but thanks to the use of a composite material they are tooth-colored so almost invisible.

The first rails are assumed by the doctor to check if they fit correctly on the teeth and whether they cover the entire assumed surface. It is very important that such a splint does not compress gums or interdental warts anywhere. From this point on, the patient who must follow the doctor's instructions at least 22 hours a day is taking control of his treatment, removing them only for food or drinks that could color the rails and change them every ten to fourteen days. Control visits usually take place every two months. The doctor then checks how the treatment proceeds with the previous plan and whether the rails were worn properly and whether they still fit. During each visit, when choosing the full method, it is possible to retrieve the impressions again and change the treatment plan if it does not proceed as expected.

Time and course of convalescence

The duration of the entire treatment with apparatuses (aligners) - Invisalign® depends on the complexity of the malocclusion, but is comparable to the period of treatment with conventional braces. Usually, the treatment lasts from 9 to 18 months. More detailed information can be obtained during consultation with the Invisalign® doctor

Recommendations after the procedure

It is extremely important to maintain the effects after treatment with an appillary camera (aligners) - Invisalign®. The research shows that even in the absence of retention, even completely aligned teeth can gradually return to their original position. This problem is very common in all orthodontic treatments, but it can be easily solved. For this purpose, retainers are used. It depends on the doctor what method he will use. It can be a thin wire retainer, a retention device worn at night or dedicated Vivera® retainers overlays, created as Invisalign® aligners after taking impressions. One time, three of these vivera® retainers are obtained. Both the retention device and the Vivera® retainers are used only at night to the end of life, which helps maintain the effect of simple, healthy teeth.

How long do the effects last after the treatment last?

When using the correct retention, according to the doctor's recommendations, the effect of treatment with the attachment device (aligners) - Invisalign® stays on the teeth until they fall out or last a lifetime.

How to avoid complications after the procedure?

Complications can be avoided by following the doctor's instructions. Keep aligners as long as possible, preferably removing them only for eating, drinking and cleaning, and for brushing your teeth. According to the latest research, it is allowed to consume one meal a day in aligners to speed up the treatment. While eating, the most powerful forces work on your teeth and that's when their movement is most effective. You can also drink in them, but only drinks that do not discolour overlays, because then the transparency effect is lost. In addition, retainers should be worn at night to prevent the teeth from returning to their original position.

Possible complications after the procedure

As with any orthodontic treatment, and after treatment with an overlay device (aligners) - Invisalign®, complications are possible, associated with a number of different factors that arise even though the doctor is performing well. One of the side effects of treatment can be root resorption. Another complication may be teeth necrosis. Thanks to the use of this method of treatment, the problem of decalcification in the vicinity of locks used in treatment with fixed appliances is avoided, because the use of caps significantly facilitates the cleaning of the tooth surface.

Recommended additional treatments after the procedure

After treatment with an attachment device (aligners) - Invisalign®, you can whiten your teeth which will strengthen the effect of a healthy, beautiful smile, eg. Treatment of teeth whitening with a lamp. It is also important to regularly clean teeth from deposits and tartar.
