Non-surgical vaginal reduction - characteristics

Although the processes of aging of the organism are most often indicated by signs existing in the skin, changes related to the passage of time also appear in these less visible at first glance, parts of the body. A specific problem for women is the feeling of excessive looseness (looseness) within the vaginal structures. This condition may cause discomfort during sexual contact and reduce the enjoyment derived from these activities. Vaginal looseness syndrome may also be associated with an increased tendency to urinary incontinence in the patient.

These aspects can definitely lead to significant limitations in the patient's life - a woman may start to avoid making sexual contacts, and if she experiences involuntary urine leakage, she may reduce the frequency of leaving her own home because of embarrassment. Certainly, it can be said that the vaginal looseness syndrome is not a state that could simply be ignored - its occurrence can lead to considerable difficulties for patients. In medicine, it is common to say that prevention is better than cure. However, in order to know how to protect against the occurrence of excessive loosening of the vaginal tissues, it is first necessary to have knowledge of what factors may lead to this condition.

There are at least several reasons for excessive vaginal looseness. As the basic factor associated with the loss of firmness and elasticity of the structures that build the vagina, births are exchanged. A particular risk of experiencing this problem is primarily those patients who have given birth repeatedly and women who have had complications with the forces of nature. Another possible cause of the patient feeling excessive looseness in the vagina may be age-related changes. The onset of menopause (the last menstrual period) and related hormonal changes (especially the lowering of estrogen levels in the female body) is the reason why the structures of the genital tract lose their firmness and elasticity. The risk of the described disorders is also increased in the case of obese women who smoke cigarettes and those who have undergone some surgical procedures in the pelvic area (eg hysterectomy, i.e. removal of the uterus).

Excessive looseness of the vagina is definitely not a condition that patients have to accept. To increase the tension of tissues within the genital tract can be in at least a few different ways. Patients can make some attempts to fight their ailments even alone in their own home, for example, it is possible to perform pelvic floor muscle exercises (so-called Kegel muscles). Professional medical professionals can also help - patients who struggle with excessive looseness of the vagina can be recommended vaginoplasty treatments. There is a possibility of reducing the vagina on the surgical path, however, some women - at least because of the fear of surgery - would prefer to avoid being on the operating table. And for such patients there is a way to solve their problems - specialists in aesthetic medicine (and in particular, aesthetic gynecology) carry out non-invasive procedures, thanks to which it is possible to completely reduce the vagina without surgery. For this purpose, laser treatments are mainly used for this purpose. In addition, procedures using radio frequency waves are also available.

Non-surgical vaginal reduction - benefits

The main advantage of non-surgical vaginal depression is the invasiveness of the procedure. The procedure is essentially non-invasive because it does not require tissue contamination with a scalpel. Due to the fact that small-scale intervention is performed, the risk of complications after surgery is drastically reduced. It is also worth mentioning that non-surgical vaginal shrinkage does not take much time. Sometimes it takes a dozen or so minutes to carry out the procedure, which means that even those women who have little time and can not afford a longer stay in the treatment facility can decide on it - after the procedure, hospitalization is not needed.

In addition to the above-mentioned advantages of non-surgical vaginal reduction, it should also be stressed that due to the relatively simple and light-weighted treatment it is possible to significantly improve the patient's comfort. Thanks to the procedure, intimate life can return to normal, and problems such as involuntary loss of urine, give way. Another advantage of non-surgical vaginal shrinkage is that there are relatively few contraindications to this procedure - most of the patients who are struggling with excessive loosening of vaginal tissues may use it. There is no doubt that among the advantages of the described procedure is also the fact that the most often it is not accompanied by any pain.

Indications for the procedure

The indications for non-surgical vaginal reduction are primarily the subjective feelings of the patient. The procedure can be recommended to women experiencing excessive looseness within the vagina (for example when these sensations appear constantly during intercourse), in particular those who have several children and are likely to have excessive stretching of the genital tract tissues. It should also be emphasized that non-surgical vaginal shrinking can be recommended to patients who have symptoms of vaginal looseness syndrome and who would like to solve their problem somehow and at the same time would not want to undergo surgical intervention. On the inoperable path it is possible to obtain similar effects as in the case of treatments using a scalpel.

Contraindications for the procedure

Although non-surgical vaginal shrinkage is a practically non-invasive procedure, all patients who would like it can not benefit from this procedure. Some of the contraindications are temporary and after the withdrawal of given conditions it becomes possible to perform the procedure, in the case of others it may be such that the patient will not be able to undergo a non-surgical reduction of the vagina at all. In general, the contraindications to the procedure include:
• occurrence of unexplained, extra-menstrual (extra-unrelated to the cycle) vaginal bleeding,
• active inflammatory processes occurring within the vagina,
• unstable state of the patient, associated with some of her chronic diseases (eg with non-normalized carbohydrate metabolism in the course of diabetes or with decompensated thyroid dysfunctions),
• existence of some cancer in the patient,
• current or previous history of thromboembolic events (eg deep veins thrombosis or pulmonary embolism).

The procedures are also not carried out when the patient is currently pregnant, when she is breast-feeding the baby and during menstrual bleeding.

Before the surgery

Before going through a non-surgical vaginal reduction, a consultation with a doctor will be carried out, which will carry out the procedure. Its aim is to thoroughly analyze the problems that occur in a patient and it usually takes place in the office of a specialist in aesthetic gynecology. To check whether the patient has indications for a non-surgical vaginal contraction, both physical examination (medical history) and physical examination (usually in the form of a gynecological examination) are carried out. The woman is asked about her various ailments (such as a decrease in satisfaction with the course of sexual intercourse), in addition to that, the doctor also asks questions about various conditions occurring in the patient, which would make it impossible to carry out the described procedure. The patient may also be asked about the course of her menstrual cycles (eg how long the menstrual period lasts, what time the bleeding occurs, how long the menstrual period lasts and whether she has any pain), and whether she has ever given birth to children and whether they were accompanied some difficulties.

If you qualify the patient for a non-surgical vaginal reduction, she will receive not only information on when the procedure will be performed, but also the doctor will give her instructions on how to proceed before her survival. Patients smoking cigarettes may be advised to quit the addiction because nicotinism generally negatively affects the health of the whole organism, including the condition of vaginal tissues. A similar situation applies to the consumption of alcohol - already a week or two weeks before the procedure, it is most beneficial to significantly reduce its consumption. Non-surgical vaginal shrinkage is non-invasive, therefore before this procedure there is no need for a series of specialist examinations. If the patient is asked to perform any laboratory tests, it will be basic research, such as blood counts or urine tests. An aesthetic gynecologist may also ask the patient to present the results of the current cytological examination before the procedure.

Type of anaesthesia

The laser radiation emitted in the vagina does not lead to the occurrence of any pain - in the case of non-surgical vaginal depression, so there is no need to use anesthetics.

How does the procedure work?

Non-surgical vaginal reduction is currently carried out mainly using laser energy. Available for this purpose are lasers of various companies, whose products differ from each other, including parameters of laser beams generated.

During the procedure, an adapter generating a laser beam is introduced into the vagina through a special guide. Most often, the procedure is carried out in two stages, firstly laser treated parts are deeper located parts of the vaginal canal, and later energy is emitted in the area of the vestibule and entry into the vagina. The whole operation of non-surgical vaginal reduction takes only a dozen or so minutes - it takes about 15-30 minutes to carry it out. During the exposure of the vagina with the laser, the patients may feel a feeling of warmth or slight discomfort, although they do not have significant intensity - therefore, there is no need for any anaesthesia during the procedure. Immediately after the procedure, the patient can return home - there is no need for even a short hospitalization.

Time and course of convalescence

Thanks to the fact that the procedure is non-invasive, after the patient has gone through, there are no restrictions on normal life activity. Of course, for a time after surgery, for example, to abstain from sexual contact, although there are no contra-indications for performing daily professional duties - after a non-surgical vaginal reduction, there is no need to take several days of short leave. All restrictions cease to apply within a maximum of one month after the patient has undergone the procedure - the patient will be informed by the doctor about the exact duration of the treatment before leaving the office.

Effects after surgery

The principle of operation of non-surgical vaginal reduction treatments is their effect on collagen and elastin fibers found within the tissues of female genital tracts. Under the influence of laser energy, heat is generated, the action of which leads to the shrinking of these proteins, and to the synthesis of new molecules of these structures. The initial results are still at the time of the procedure, when the patient is in the clinic, the final effects are noticeable after about a month from the procedure. This is due to the fact that time is needed for the regenerative processes within the vaginal tissues to take place. When these processes are completed, the patient may enjoy an increased tension of the vaginal tissues, so that such ailments as, for example, the feeling of excessive looseness of the vagina during sexual contact will cease to cope with the patient. The treatment may also bring beneficial results in the resolution of involuntary urinary leakage (incontinence).

Recommendations after the procedure

After non-surgical reduction of the vagina, the patients receive only a few hints as to how they should proceed for the first days after surgery. Patients do not have to take sick leave - the return to work is actually possible even on the same day. Restrictions may relate to avoiding significant physical exertion for about a week, for a similar time the patient should also avoid hot baths or stay in the sauna. It is also possible that patients will be asked to use vaginal estrogen preparations for some time. Different doctors recommend different periods of sexual abstinence after non-surgical vaginal shrinking. Part of the medics are of the opinion that patients should abstain from sexual intercourses for a month after the procedure, while others consider that sexual abstinence of up to 7 days is sufficient. Therefore, for this type of aspect, follow your doctor's instructions closely. Post-operative recommendations may include information about the date of the patient's appointment for a visit to the aesthetic gynecologist.

How long do the effects last after the treatment last?

The duration of the effects of non-surgical vaginal reduction is an individual aspect. In young patients who are in good general health, the results of one treatment can be seen even for many years. In other women (eg in older patients who are perimenopausal), the improvement in vaginal tissue tension may, in turn, persist for about two years. There is a need to emphasize that the effect of treatments may be shorter in the case of a patient's situation that predisposes to loosening the genital tract - as examples, you can give birth after a non-surgical vaginal shrink or having excessive body weight and the occurrence of constipation.

How to avoid complications after the procedure?

Complications after non-surgical reduction of the vagina are generally absent. In order to minimize the risk of discomfort after the procedure, the patient should strictly follow the instructions given by the doctor regarding how to follow the procedure (eg abstention from sexual contact). All restrictions do not last long, and their strict observance reduces the risk of problems such as pain or irritation within the vagina.

Possible complications after the procedure

The surgery of non-surgical vaginal constriction is non-invasive, therefore, after its implementation, complications are generally not observed. Theoretically, such events could be treated by the patient's sensation of vaginal irritation after the laser beam was affected, however these are rare situations and if they do occur, the associated discomforts disappear spontaneously usually within a few days after the surgery.

Recommended additional treatments after the procedure

Non-surgical vaginal shrinkage can be performed as a completely independent procedure, which does not require any additional procedures. It is worth noting, however, that sometimes one laser vaginal reduction session is not sufficient to obtain satisfactory effects - in such a situation it is possible to repeat the procedure after about a month from the first procedure.
