Excessive hyperhidrosis is a condition affecting about 2-3% of the population. It involves excessive secretion of sweat and more often affects women than men. The first symptoms of symptoms usually appear in childhood or adolescence, intensifying over a period of 20-30 years.

Treatment of hyperhidrosis of the feet of Botox - characteristics

Nowadays, medicine is often heard about botulinum toxin treatments. In the colloquial language, botulinum toxin is commonly called botox. In order to better understand the operation of the procedure, please familiarize yourself with this term and explain in the first place what it is.
Bacteria Clostriuidium botoulinum. they produce botulinum toxin. Toxin occurs naturally in nature. For the curious - the name "botulism" comes from the beginning of the 19th century and means sausage. It was then observed that the disease is related to the consumption of spoiled sausages.
The substance is used in procedures by specialist doctors for both aesthetic and medical purposes. Despite the introduction in recent years of many new devices, preparations and methods that may be used in aesthetic medicine, this preparation is still "number one". An example of the use and application of botulinum toxin are treatments aimed at reducing wrinkles (horizontal foreheads, around the eyes, under the eyes). The substance is used by specialists in the treatment of severe diseases called dystonia and muscular contractures. It is also given to people suffering from excessive sweating of the armpits, feet, foreheads and hands.

In medical language, the process of human sweating is one of the most important ways of losing heat by the body. The phenomenon of sweating is beneficial for the body, because it protects us from overheating. Excessive sweating (otherwise known as hyperhydrosis) is a condition in which sweat is released in a much greater amount than is necessary to maintain the body's normal temperature. The disease results from excessive sweat glands and their hyperactivity. There are various intensities. This disease affects about 2-3% of the population. It can be noted that, according to current statistics and research, excessive sweating more often affects the male person. Excessive sweating is a rather troublesome phenomenon, because it significantly affects the daily activity and quality of life of people suffering from it.

Two types of hyperhidrosis can be distinguished: local and generalized. Excessive perspiration in the local form, which affects a particular part of the human body, e.g. feet, is much more prevalent.

You can try to cope with hyperhidrosis in various ways, whether by reaching for specialist products from the pharmacy, whether through drugs or foot antiperspirants. Unfortunately, most of them help only with a small increase in the problem. Currently, the most effective way is the procedure consisting in feeding too much botulinum toxin to the places that secrete too much. It reduces the sensitivity of nerve endings around the sweat glands and, as a consequence, reduces the secretion of substances that provoke glands to secrete sweat.

Treatment of hyperhidrosis of Botox feet - benefits

The main benefits of treating hyperhidrosis of Botox feet are:

• elimination of unpleasant effects of excessive sweating (reduction of perspiration and unpleasant odors of feet);
• definite improvement in well-being and increase of self-confidence;
• immediate effect, with relatively low invasiveness;
• ease of performance and short duration of the treatment, with a relatively long-lasting effect.

Treatment of hyperhidrosis of the feet of Botox - indications for the procedure

The main indication for the treatment of hyperhidrosis of the feet is the sweating of the feet to a degree that disturbs the everyday functioning of people affected by the problem. Very often patients initially experience discomfort and frustration, if only because of the unpleasant odor. The shame resulting from sweating consequently leads to increasing social isolation. Excessive sweating, unfortunately, is a condition of positive feedback. This means that the occurrence of the first, already troublesome symptoms triggers a psychological reaction causing their intensification translating into a reduction in the quality of life index.

The main indication for treatment with botulinum toxin is sweating feet to the extent that disrupts the daily functioning of people affected by hyperhidrosis. Foot hyperhydrosis is a nuisance. An example of how embarrassing this type of hyperhidrosis can be is imagining a person, for example, a young girl, invited on a date who is unable to take off shoes in an apartment (although culture requires it) fearing the unpleasant smell of feet and leaving marks on the floor from a sweaty wet foot. External symptoms of hyperhidrosis can cause great discomfort, at the same time causing increased shame and lack of self-confidence.

Treatment of hyperhidrosis of the feet of Botox - contraindications for the procedure

When performing the treatment of hyperhidrosis of feet with Botox, which consists in combating excessive secretion of sweat in the hand area, despite its low invasiveness and risk of complications, as in any medical procedure, there are squeezes to perform it. The number of contraindications mentioned above is definitely lower than in the case of other types of surgical procedures, especially when it comes to surgery, but it should be remembered that the procedure can not be performed when they occur:

• neuromuscular transmission disorders (myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Estona syndrome, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis);
• hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation used (e.g., human albumin, botulinum toxin type A);
• when it comes to female sex, a woman wishing to undergo surgery is pregnant or during lactation;
• there are skin infections at the site of the planned administration of botulinum toxin;
• the person who wants to use the treatment accepts drugs from the group of amino glycosides (eg, gentamicin).

The downplaying of the above-mentioned contraindications may cause negative consequences that may come to fruition as an undesirable effect of the performed procedure, including acting to the detriment of the potential patient's health.

Treatment of hyperhidrosis of the feet of botox - before the procedure

Before the treatment of hyperhidrosis of feet with botox, the doctor is obliged to prepare for it. Taking into account the individual case and the type of surgical procedure to which the patient is to be subject first of all, he / she conducts a consultation with a person willing to use this type of surgery. By default, the first activity of a physician taking a patient with symptoms of hyperhidrosis is to conduct an interview, as a result of which he or she should obtain from the patient any information that may affect the possibility or effect of the planned surgery in the future. The patient is expected to give this person reliable answers, and on the day of the surgery (after informing him about such a requirement), expect not to use any cosmetic preparations acting on the skin of the feet to be treated.

Before the treatment of hyperhidrosis of feet with Botox, one of its first steps may be to carry out an iodine-starch test, which allows you to figure out exactly where to perform the injection. The test is performed by lubricating the feet with iodine followed by starch scattering. The test allows you to observe places where there are the most glands causing increased secretion of sweat. These places, in response to starch, turn dark.

Treatment of hyperhidrosis of the feet of botox - a type of anaesthesia

Very many patients are afraid of joining the treatment for hyperhidrosis of Botox. Confused patients are afraid of pain associated with planned medical procedures. The treatment aimed at limiting the secretion of sweat around the feet consists in injecting into the skin in small doses a botulinum toxin, blocking sweat glands for some time. The treatment of hyperhidrosis of the feet with botox is done using a thin needle, which is associated with a negative feeling of puncture. In addition to this discomfort, the disadvantage of the surgery is its pain. This is due to the fact that the skin of the feet is hard and the local anesthetic (usually the doctors use the cream with lidocaine) penetrates it poorly, causing a worse effect. The surface of the feet is also much larger than the area of the armpits or the forehead, which causes more to be inflicted, and a more painful procedure.

Treatment of hyperhidrosis of Botox - how is the procedure?

After the initial preparation of the patient, the main procedure is performed. In appropriately prepared and marked places, the doctor administers the treatment under the skin, a small amount of botulinum toxin. She causes paralysis of nerve endings supplying sweat glands. The result is a temporary gland dysfunction. As a consequence, it manifests itself in the decrease of sweat secretion in injected areas. Administration of botox with a sterile needle lasts from a few to several minutes. The effect of the treatment is observed after just a few days of the surgery.

Treatment of hyperhidrosis of the feet of Botox - time and course of convalescence

Immediately after the treatment of hyperhidrosis of the feet of botox, as a result of scratching the needle in patients, small bruises and puncture wounds may appear. Due to the small diameter of the needle used during the treatment, they are virtually unnoticeable. There may be slight redness and slight swellings in the place. However, these symptoms should be resolved within a few days of the surgery. It is possible that the patient will feel local soreness after the procedure, however, he should resign in a time not far from surgery.

Treatment of hyperhidrosis of the feet of botox - effects after the procedure

Botox is one of the most popular treatments today. Its popularity was certainly determined by the effectiveness and quick effect of treatment of hyperhidrosis of Botox. Referring to effectiveness, it should be noted that the results of the treatment are visible after a few days. From 3 to 12 days after surgery, we can observe an evident decrease in foot sweating in people who have undergone treatment for hyperhidrosis of Botox.

Treatment of hyperhidrosis of the feet of Botox - recommendations after the procedure

After the treatment of hyperhidrosis of the feet of botox, the patient's attitude and compliance with the doctor's recommendations are very important. In order to avoid shortening the time of operation and to reduce the effectiveness of the preparation, the use of a solarium and a sauna is discouraged. It is recommended to limit this use for the next few weeks from the day of the surgery. In addition, do not use laser treatments or using radio waves. It is also recommended that treated areas be treated for a few days with increased delicacy, avoiding kneading and massaging them. It is also important to modify the diet, especially in the initial phase of convalescence. In order to increase the effectiveness of treatment, it is worth limiting the consumption of alcohol, coffee and dishes containing spicy spices, because the substances contained in these products increase the activity of the sympathetic nervous system, and what is connected with it - the amount of sweat produced.

Treatment of hyperhidrosis of Botox - how long do the effects last after the treatment?

The main drawback of the treatment of hyperhidrosis of the feet of Botox is its short-term effect. The time of maintaining the toxin in the body depends in each case on the individual characteristics of the patient. It may happen that the preparation will work better once, sometimes worse depending on the person. Generally, botulinum toxin operates in the range from about 6 to 12 months. After the indicated period around the sweat glands, new unblocked nerve endings are created, often causing a recurrence of sweating in a previously treated area. Good information for patients is the fact that the treatment can be repeated.

Treatment of hyperhidrosis of Botox - how to avoid complications after surgery?

When avoiding complications in this type of procedure, which is injections, the most important thing is to follow the doctor's instructions. As it has already been described, one should avoid excessive physical effort during the first days after the procedure. Over the period from 2 weeks to a month, avoid the sun and do not use the sauna. In addition to the sauna, the use of the swimming pool is not recommended for 4-5 days from the day of the treatment. In addition, remember not to touch, massage and constrict the feet (and therefore walk as often as barefoot), and also as mentioned above, do not use dermatological and cosmetic treatments within these places.

Treatment of hyperhidrosis of the feet of Botox - possible complications after the procedure

Generally, treatments for hyperhidrosis with botulinum toxin are considered safe procedures. However, as with any medical procedure, complications may still occur. These complications, however, are transient and, what is more important, they do not threaten human life. Pain, redness, swelling, bruising, infections and allergic reactions are the most common of those occurring.

Treatment of hyperhidrosis of the feet of Botox - recommended additional treatments after the procedure

The treatment of hyperhidrosis with botulinum toxin is a method with the best documented efficacy among those available on the market. Preparations available in pharmacies are not as effective. However, surgical operation, or the use of micro-needle radiofrequency to combat hyperhidrosis, is more invasive and painful. Another type of treatments, which is important from the point of view of both the doctor and the patient, also have a greater number of postoperative complications.

In addition to compliance with the instructions of the treating physician, the described method of treatment of hyperhidrosis of the feet does not require any supportive therapies. In the event that excessive hand sweating is caused by an emotional factor, then, exceptionally, to obtain better results, treatment is recommended by recommending the patient to take beta drugs - brokers or sedatives.

The patient, wanting to support the treatment, can also resort to taking a decoction of herb sage, which has a positive effect on reducing excessive sweating. However, before attempting such attempts, it is recommended to consult such a plan with a physician, due to the possibility of interactions with other drugs, if the patient accepts such a plan.
